Card Control FAQ's

Q: Can I use my ATM Card on Card Control?

A: No, at this time, Card Control only supports The Hometown Savings Banks Consumer Debit Card, Business Debit Card, and Health Savings Debit Card. 

Q: How do I access Card Control?

A: You can access Card Control by enrolling in Online Banking and clicking on “Card Control” from the menu options.  You can also access card control through The Hometown Savings Bank Mobile Banking App

Q: Can I use Card Control on my Mobile banking?

A: Yes! You can use Card Control in Mobile Banking or Online Banking.

Q: Can I add and access my spouse or children’s debit cards on Card Control?

A: Card Control will only display debit cards that are associate with you as an individual.  Cards with another person’s name on the card will not display in your Card Control section of Online Banking or Mobile Banking.

Q: Will I need a username or password to access Card Control?

A: You will need to be a registered user of Online Banking to use Card Control.  You can register for Online Banking on our website, www.thsb.com, or by clicking “Sign Up” on our mobile app.

Q: What kind of alerts can I set on Card Control?

A: With Card Controls, you can set transaction alerts based on merchant, amount of transaction, or the transaction type, such as online or in store. 

Q: How will I receive alerts for Card Control?

A: Alerts can be sent as push notifications to your THSB Mobile App or to your registered email on file. 

Q: What Merchant Types can I restrict with Card Control?

A: Using Card Control, you can restrict merchants such as: entertainment, gas stations, grocery stores, household stores, personal care, restaurants, and travel.

Q: If I change my card status to inactive, will that stop all transactions?

A: No, changing your card status to inactive will only stop transactions where your card is present for the purchase.  It will not stop online transactions or recurring transactions. 

Q: How do I turn my card off?

A: To turn your card off, you will need to access Card Controls from your Online Banking or Mobile Banking.  You will click the ON/OFF button for card status and confirm the change you are requesting.

Q: Do I have to add my card if I get a new card number?

A: No. If you get a replacement card with a new card number, that card should appear within 24 business hours of the card being created.

Q: Do I have to remove an old card?

A: No.  If your card is closed, that card should disappear within 24 business hours from Card Controls. 

Q: How do I create a transaction alert?

A: Log into Card Controls within Online Banking or Mobile Banking.  Select the card you wish to work with.

Click on ‘Set Blocks and Alerts’ to create specific alerts.

Q: How do I manage my alert delivery options?

A: Alerts can be sent to your email address associated with your Online Banking.  You can click on Alert Delivery Options to enable or disable push notifications or email alerts.

Q: How do I change the email address associated with my Card Control?

A: Click on the settings menu option.  You can update your email address on file.  When you update that email address, your email address for alerts will update within Card Control.

Q: How do I unsubscribe from Card Control?

A: Contact The Hometown Savings Bank at 812-234-4864 to request to be unsubscribed from Card Control.
